The band is full of legendary rockers including guitar god, Joe Satriani, former Van Halen members Sammy Hagar (vocals) and Michael Anthony (guitar) and Red Hot Chili Pepper’s drummer, Chad Smith.

It’s a silly name for a band -- and album -- that kicks a donkey’s ass six ways to Sunday and back again. Maybe that’s because long before the four men who comprise Chickenfoot came together they already filled the pages of rock history with enough individual mind-blowing chapters to boggle the mind. The news that they’ve pooled their inordinate talents to one collective whole quickly spread across the Internet last year (and perhaps that crazy name helped just a little). But the fact that they’ve succeeded artistically beyond anyone’s wildest dreams (except perhaps their own) is all the more reason to celebrate.

This ground breaking event was created with the purpose of recognizing and celebrating the achievements of the people involved in making the sport so great! This year’s nominees will be honored at a lavish, star-studded, awards ceremony held at the Joint inside the Vegas Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and will be hosted by comedian John Heffron.

Last year, fans across the world voted Anderson Silva 2008 Fighter of the Year. Some of the other 2008 winners include Demian Maia (Breakthrough Fighter of the Year), Michael Bisping (European Fighter of the Year), Dana White (Leading Man), Arianny Celeste (Ring Girl of the Year). This year’s event will stream live on Versus.com and then be broadcast nationally in North America on the Versus Network in early January 2010.

The fans will decide the winners in 18 categories by voting on www.worldMMAawards.com. You can join us live when the winners are announced in Las Vegas at the Dec. 30 ceremony.
