The Tedeschi Trucks Band and B.B. King recently announced they would be touring together this summer and fall. This evening of rock and blues is scheduled to hit The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Sunday, September 2.
Armed with a new Grammy Award for a debut album, Revelator, deemed a “masterpiece” by Rolling Stone and praised by concert goers around the world for brilliant musicianship and roof-raising performances, Tedeschi Trucks Band is catapulting to new heights of popularity as they welcome the spring with a U.S. tour and their first live album. Led by one of the most dynamic husband-wife teams in popular music, singer-guitarist Susan Tedeschi and slide guitar virtuoso Derek Trucks, the 11-piece ensemble is the ultimate big band for lovers of rock and delta blues that also pays homage to the far-ranging influences of funk, gospel, jazz and world music and can lead you to "leave the theater with your faith in live music renewed" (Newark Star Ledger).
At the Grammys in February, their first record, Revelator (Sony Masterworks), was named Best Blues Album, while Derek, at 32, became one of the youngest recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award as a longtime member of the Allman Brothers Band. Susan, who Downbeat says “stirs the soul,” had five Grammy nominations as a solo artist prior to her first win for Revelator, an album that All Music Guide hailed for having “everything a listener could want: grit, groove, raw, spiritual emotion, and expert-level musical truth.”
Derek entered 2012 newly ranked at #16 among Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time in a poll of his peers and industry experts. He was the youngest person to make the list, and the only person in the top 20 under the age of 50.
