Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Supports Earth Hour 2009 to Help Fight Climate Change
Las Vegas, NV - In addition to turning off the exterior lights for one hour beginning at 8:30 p.m. on March 28, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino celebrates Earth Hour 2009 with a candlelight dinner at AGO, twilight poker tournament and a specialty “Ecotini” cocktail served around the property.
AGO hosts “AGO After Dark”, an intimate three-course candlelight dinner ($42 per person). Appetizer selections include choice of ahi tuna with avocado tartar, green onions and grapefruit vinaigrette, seared scallops over braised red lentil and asparagus sauce, or roasted eggplant cake with Parmigiano fondue. The main course features choice of veal ravioli with fresh sage, grilled escolar with mixed vegetables and yellow pepper sauce, or truffled oxtail over roasted artichoke and red wine sauce. A lemon and lime pannacotta with fresh berries serves as the perfect ending to the candlelight feast.
At 7 p.m., guests can try to win some green while going green at a “Twilight Poker Tournament” in the Poker Lounge. Players will receive $4,000 in tournament chips with an initial $50 buy-in (an optional $10 bonus in which you will receive an additional $2,000 in starting chips). Patrons can accumulate an additional $500 - $2,000 in extra chips for the tournament per hour of live play from 1 to 7 p.m. Those interested are encouraged to visit the Rockstar Club for more details.
Available all day, the “Ecotini” ($8) will be served exclusively at AGO, Pink Taco, Center Bar and Poker Lounge. The Earth inspired mixture contains a refreshing blend of Barcardi Light Rum, Midori and Pineapple juice.
On Saturday, March 28, 2009, Las Vegas will stand in solidarity with the world to raise awareness about climate change. As part of this initiative, for one hour beginning at 8:30 p.m. PST, casinos and hotels on and off of the iconic Las Vegas Strip will dim or turn off neon and flashing lights, creating a once-in-a-lifetime viewing event.
